Halo - A Gamer's Review

Some say it's just a first person shooter game, some swear by it as a way of life! halo, a video game developed by the American company Bungie Studios has received cult status in the gaming circles and has often been described by critics and fans alike as the most influential product of its genre.

So what is Halo? It is a sci-fi based video game that deals with the story of a Master Chief-a technically modified humanoid fighter with super powers. Among his powers is included the now famous super body armor and his side-kick, Cortana , an artificial intelligence being; programmed with feminine characteristics.

The story evolves around the epical battle that a futuristic human race enters against Covenant, an oppressive and villainous alliance forged by alien species from various galaxies.

The term from which the game derives its name is taken from an orbital construction called the halo Megastructure-, which plays a crucial role in the evolution of the plot.

The popularity of the first version, halo: Combat Evolved led to the creation of subsequent versions, halo 2 and halo 3.

The concept has since spread to other genres such as novels, graphic novels and other video games.

The game was featured in Microsoft's xbox and was the single most decisive factor behind its popularity leading some experts to call it Xbox's "killer application"

This also played a role in the creation of the eponymous term "halo Killer" which simply means any gaming application that aims at bettering Halo's popularity both commercially and socially.

The commercial success of the series has been undeniable; with halo 2 breaking all previous records of sales seen before in electronic media and halo 3 overtaking its predecessor's margins.

Culturally, the game's influence has been far reaching with a whole new generation of fanatics following its every move; the impact is comparable to the star Wars franchise of the previous generation.

Eat Less to Lose Weight

With all the new advances in nutrition and exercise research it seems to be a contradiction that obesity and over weight is on the rise in North America. It's pretty clear that we know more now than we ever did about how to eat properly and how to exercise for weight loss and overall health. research in nutrition and exercise shown us exactly what we need to do to lose weight, get into great shape, and stay that way? If science has progressed in these fields of research, why hasn't it resulted in a more fit, healthy, and slimmer population?

The truth is that the opposite is happening to the population. The percentage of overweight, obese and unhealthy adults is rising right along side our scientific knowledge of how to fight it. What is even more alarming is the rise in the percentage of overweight and obese children. We are teaching our children our bad habits.

This is sending a pretty clear message to me. The information we get from scientific research is not reaching the general population. Or more accurately, the message isn't being supported enough by government and industry in our daily routines.

For example: Science would dictate that you should eat modest portions of whole foods, with plenty of fruits and vegetables as a staple of a healthy diet. The reality is that most of us can find half a dozen fast food restaurants within 5 minutes of our houses that are offering us the exact opposite of what we know we should be eating. Even more troubling is the fact that if everyone actually tried to eat the daily recommend amount of fruits and veggies there wouldnt be enough to go around. Author and acclaimed nutrition researcher Marion Nestle points out in her book What to Eat that the north American food supply of fruits and veggies doesnt even add up to the daily recommend amount for each person. The food industry will only produce the food they know they can sell. And we as a population just dont buy that much produce.

The repeated and relentless marketing messages to eat more we receive on a daily basis can overpower most of our better intentions when it comes to making food decisions.

The one message you will never hear from the food industry is eat less. However almost all diet studies that show any significant amount of weight loss have one thing in common: the people in the study consumed less calories.

This is the paradox. Science tells us to lose weight we need to eat less. But the food industry which surrounds us every day is telling us to eat more. And the voice of the food industry is much louder than the voice of science. Just think of how many fast food restaurants, convenience stores, radio and tv commercials, flyers, coupons and other food ads you are exposed to in a day. Then think of how many daily messages you get reminding you to eat a sensible diet with moderate portions and whole foods.

Its not a fair fight, and I dont have to tell you which side usually wins in the battle for your attention. Look no further than the rising obesity, overweight, diabetes and heart disease rates and you have your answer.

food manufacturers and restaurants know how to push your buttons and entice you to purchase their products, and lots of them too, this is unlikely to change any time soon. It will always be your personal challenge and responsibility to choose to eat less in a society that will forever continue to tell you to eat more.

Hardware Inside Nintendo Wii Reviewed and Explained

Nintendos seventh generation gaming console was code named Revolution. It sought to becoming futuristic and including all conveniences like a wireless controller and Wii remote which has three dimensional functions. Signs of a Leaky Basement

Some signs of a leaky basement are very obvious and others are not so obvious. Of course the most obvious sign of water leaking is water everywhere or pools of water on the floor! You might also actually hear the water dripping or staring at big ugly brown stains spreading across your walls. Sometimes you can even smell the water particularly if it is tainted by sewage or tainted by pesticides. Sometimes leaky water also has the heavy musky smell of fresh soil as often water leaking through a bad basement foundation will also be carrying a lot of silt with it.

There are also lots of other clues that you have a leaky basement. One sign of a leaky basement that is often just interpreted as aging or fading is the presence of efflorescence. Efflorescence is a deposit of a thin white film on your wall. It is the residue left by water that contains minerals and other effluvia from the soil.

Dampness is of course a big sign that you have a leaky basement but you should also look for other signs such as rusting nails or metal fixtures, rotting wood near the floor level, rusted metal feet on appliances, lifted floor tiles and peeling paint. All of these signs are not necessarily indicative of big disaster however it is possibly an indication that your home is suffering some kind of leakage during a rainy or wet season.

Sometimes the leaky basement is not due to some sort of vulnerability in your basement foundation. Sometimes it is caused by breaks in your water supply lines or pipes. Even a small seam or crack in a pipe can cause a big pool of water to form on your basement floor. Yet another big culprit is sinks and toilets that constantly drip as the result of a loose joint or loose pipe. Often this type of water collects beneath a cupboard in which the actual plumbing works are concealed.

There is almost always a little bit of leakage around the places where pipes enter the home. This is because of condensation on the pipes forming dew. To prevent this type of water leaking into your house (and first make sure that it is not the pipe itself that is leaking or your efforts will be futile) you can patch it with a waterproof concrete patch. Keep in mind that this will not prevent the water from forming from behind the walls. The only thing that might prevent that is the installation of a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers can be an important tool in your battle against basement moisture and molds but not if the moisture is actually due to water seepage as opposed to water condensation.

There is a very easy way to determine if water on your basement walls is due to condensation or seepage. Simply tape a piece of aluminum foil to your basement wall. After a few days inspect its surfaces. If there is moisture on the inside surface that was touching the wall then you are dealing with a leak. If moisture forms on the aluminum foil side that is facing out from the wall then the problem is condensation and can easily be dealt with by a dehumidifier.

The good news is that condensation is a lot easier to manage than leaking water. Although it is persistent the excess humidity is manageable. Exposure to sunlight and wind can help dry out a basement that is dripping with condensation. It is also a good idea to keep basement windows closed if you live in a climate that is overly humid or that has a heavy rainy season.

Fundamentally the golf swing requires the golfer to maintain a fixed spine angle, rotate around a fixed spine angle, and maintain specific postural positions in every phase of the swing. In order to accomplish this the muscles of your body must have certain levels of strength. It is the ability of your muscles to exert specified levels of force that allows for these requirements of the golf swing to be met. The third and final physical component of the golf swing is power. power development in the golf swing is measured through clubhead speed. The higher rate at which the clubhead impacts the golf ball, the farther it will travel down the fairway. As it relates to the body, power development is contingent upon the muscles of your body generating the greatest amount of force possible within the confines of the swing. Increasing the power outputs of your muscles will enhance your ability to generate clubhead speed in the golf swing.

Knowing three basic components exist within the body relative to the golf swing. And understanding improvement within your flexibility, strength, and power components will improve your golf swing. It is easily understood how a golf fitness program can improve the clubhead speed in your golf swing.
